Speaker assures of effective solution to problems in horticulture
Ferozepur, April 8, 2023: The Punjab government is taking every necessary step for the welfare of farmers, especially small and marginal farmers under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and is always standing shoulder to shoulder with the farmer brothers. One way to make Punjab a ‘Rangla Punjab’ again is to move away from traditional agriculture in the fields and adopt modern agriculture to cultivate vegetables, flowers and fruits to save water. This was expressed by the Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Kultar Singh Sandhwa after visiting the plum orchard and pepper cluster at village Tut near Ferozepur when Rajnish Dahiya, MLA Ferozepur Rural was also specially present with him on this occasion.
Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that every farmer should bring maximum area under horticulture crops according to his land requirement so that agricultural diversity can be brought in Punjab.
On this occasion, progressive farmer Nachhatar Singh and Lakhwinder Singh Lakha shared their experience that in one acre they cultivate a plum orchard and pepper in another acre. He said that he has been cultivating plums for about 25 years and pepper for 8 years and will also cultivate straw berries in the future. Other progressive farmers present on this occasion also shared their experiences while talking to the speaker.
Praising the progressive farmers, Sandhavan appealed to other farmers to take guidance from them to cultivate horticultural crops and plant orchards so that agricultural diversification can be brought in Punjab.
MLA Rajnish Dahiya also assured the farmers that they will bring their demands to the notice of CM and resolve the issue as soon as possible.
On this occasion, PRO/Speaker Manpreet Singh, Amandeep Singh PA, Dr. Manjit Singh Kameana, Jagjit Singh Nangal, Beant Singh Hakumatwala, Jagmeet Singh Bhullar, Lakhvir Singh Fauzi, Chili cluster members Balwinder Singh Mahalam, Shamsher Singh Hakumatwala, Lakhi Ferozshah, Rashpal Singh, Hardeep Singh, Manpreet Singh, Hardeep Singh Babbu, Pishora Singh, Gurnam Singh and other farmers of village Tut were also present.
