School staff celebrates Int’l Day of Persons with Disabilities under COP at Blind Home
Ferozepur, December 3, 2020: In order to commemorate International Day for Disabled persons , the staff members of DCMI School, under its Community Outreach Programme, today celebrated International Day of Persons with Disability at Home for the Blinds.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2020, also called World Disability Day, the theme for this year is ‘Building back better: towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world by, for and with persons with disabilities’. International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. It has been observed with varying degrees of success around the planet.
Presently, there are 32 inmates, out of which 16 are studying in Plus Two and upper classes. They are being looked after by the District Council for the Welfare of Handicapped with the assistance of district administration from the Red Cross Society.
Abhishek Arora, VP along with Varinder Singh, Kishore, Ms Gagan, and Ms Mandeep Matharu presented Cricket bats, wickets and rattle balls to the inmates of Home for the Blinds. The inmates were excited and elated to receive the sports equipments.
The staff members also presented monetary assistance to Ramesh Sethi, Manager, Blind Home for arranging any other sports equipments to the inmates
Lauding the efforts of the manage in running the Home for the Blind, Abhishek Arora said persons with disability were the real heroes of society as they ecel in life despite of so many hardships. On behalf of school and staff, he assured of all help and support in the coming times besides making commitment to celebrate the birthdays of inmates once in a month.
