‘Sadhbhawna Rally’ – a Litmus Test to work as ‘Oxygen’ for SAD ?
After the sacrilege incidents of Holy Book – Guru Granth Sahib – in Punjab, the Shiromani Akali Dal and Punjab Government are on target of the Opposition party. To regain the image, the SAD has organized ‘Sadhbhawna Rally’ at Bhatinda on November 23 which will not be less than a Litmus Test.
In fact, the SAD party had been under controversy over the various issues – unofficially banning the release of MSG by the Dera Sachha Sauda Chief, followed by farmers rally over compensation for damaged cotton crop, sacrilege of holy book at various places in the state besides agitations by the teaching staff from time to time for non-payment of wages on regular basis and regularization of their services.
While on the one hand, the SAD leaders are busy in conducting of rally peacefully, but at the same time, there is also great enthusiasm among the SAD workers. In other words, it will be a show of strength.
People are showing resentment in a different and in the recent incident, an old man is alleged to have slapped the Cabinet Minister Malooka – denied by the Minister and SSP that he was only pushed which disturbed his turban.
There is no denying the fact that the SAD-BJP ministers had been avoiding public appearances. Heavy police forces were deployed at the public meetings.
Certain Sikh Organisations have boycott this Sadhbhawana Rally and call it as
In the past few days, there had been allegations and counter allegations from the ruling and opposition parties using the strong worded language.
In such a scenario, the big challenge before the SAD and Punjab Govt. is to make this rally a peaceful and successful.
Both Senior and Junior Badals feels the pulse of the situation. This is the reason that Senior Badal has tendered apology for any wrongs and the Junior Badal has taken the whole command of the rally including the security arrangements in his hand and perhaps might have given the directions to meet any untoward situation from the anti-social and anti-party elements.
Badals have selected the Bhatinda for rally because of two reason – one, it is their home town and second, Bhatinda has been the centre of all incidents. Harsimrat Kaur Badal – wife of Sukhbir Badal and daughter in law of Parkash Singh Badal is MP from this constituency and Minister at the Centre.
The interesting point is that BJP after its defeat in Bihar announced to participate in the rally at the eleventh hour which was earlier speaking its own tone despite having alliance for contesting the coming elections in 2017 independently.
While certain Sikh organizations have appealed not to participate in the rally, the Joint Akali Dal Bhatinda has announced to oppose the rally.
Frankly speaking, in case the rally is successfully, it will work as ‘oxyen’ for the Shiromani Akali Dal for all purposes. Despite strong opposition, it looks that the Litmus Test will work as ‘Oxygen’ in the lab of politics
