Rs.60 lac illegal assets of women drug smuggler freezed under NDPS Act
Ferozepur, November 21, 2023: The Ferozepur police in its drive against drugs campaign has started freezing the illegal properties of the drug smugglers through illegal drug sales. In this context, the illegal property worth Rs.60 lac of a woman drug smuggler, Rani wife of late Ashwani Kumari resident of near Pothimala Guruharsahai has been frozen under Section 68-F(2) of NDPS Act 1985.
Divulging with the details, SSP Deepak Hillori said, “In the Ferozepur district, during the year 2023, so far 31 drug smugglers with illegal assets worth Rs.14,76,66,802 have been frozen, under Section 68(2) of the NDPS Act, after getting orders from the Competent Authority at Delhi. Under this action, the properties frozen cannot be sold or transferred, till further orders from the CA.”
He said, every effort is being made to curb the illegal business of drugs by forming teams of gazetted officers (GOs), under the tutelage of Randhir Kumar, SP(Investigation), who are working actively in the district.
In the instant case, Rani on recovery of 500 gm of heroin was booked under the NDPS Act in August 2021 at Kulgarhi Police Station and the case is going on in court. The property of Rs.60 lac on 6 marla plots has been frozen valuing Rs.60 lac under the NDPS Act. The freezing notice was displayed by the concerned DSP and SHO Guruharsahai outside the house of the accused.
He further said, Rani has been booked in 8 cases under NDPS Act at Kulgarhi and Guruharsahia police stations from 2018 to 2021.
Another 10 drug smugglers cases of freezing of illegal assets have been prepared under the NDPS Act which will also be sent to the Competent Authority in Delhi to attach their properties, he added.
