Ferozepur, March 10,2016:  The Third Eye has worked finally with police in cracking the day light robbery within 24 hours of the crime near Botian Wala village in Zira Sub Division of Ferozepur, thanks to a network of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

 

On March 9, two armed men robbed a milkman – Ratan Singh of Santuwala village –  of Rs.1.50 lakh in  the broad day light after firing at him.  Ratan Singh withdrew Rs.1.50 lakh from a branch of the Bank of India and was returning home on his bike when two persons started chasing him.

 

The moment Ratan reached Bottian Wala village,he was fired upon by two assailants, leaving him injured.

 

The attackers snatched the bag containing the cash and fled from the spot. The victim was referred to a hospital in Ludhiana as he was in a critical condition while the investigation was on.

 

Disclosing this today to the media persons, Dr.Ketan Bali Patil, SP(H) informed that a team headed by Hardev Singh Boparai, DSP Zira was constituted who minutely monitored the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the main bazaar, chowks in Zira and on its in-depth study arrested Harbans Singh alias Rana who has committed the crime.

 

On further investigation from the arrested person, he said, it was revealed that Rana was released on 29th September 2015 in the case of his wife Manjit Kaur who committed suicide being fed up from her husband.  He had purchased one local made pistol 315 bore for Rs.4,000 from UP with intention of robberies in view of his poor financial conditions.  On March 8, Rattan Singhn who was going on a motor cycle after withdrawing the cash from State Bank of India, Zira was followed by him, was attacked with firing from pistol and fled away with cash from the scene.

 

Patil further said, out of the robbed money, Rs.1,27,000, pistol used for firing, one live cartridge, LED purchased from the cash and Paltina motor cycle was recovered from the robber.
