Rice Millers threaten for indefinite strike over new Custom Milling Paddy Policy

Ferozepur September 5, 2018:  The Punjab Rice Millers Association has threatened to proceed on indefinite strike against the new Punjab Custom milling of paddy policy – Kharif 2018-19, approved by the Cabinet,  for proper procurement of the produce from farmers and delivery of the rice into the central pool from more than 3710 mills across the state.

However, Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA after having a meeting with the District Ferozepur Rice Millers Association assured them for change in the existing milling policy.

According to the new milling policy for 2018-19, the conditions put on the rice millers are to give 5 per cent bank guarantee, demand for Sibbal Report, condition for storing the paddy on per acre base, moisture, standard cut and 12 per cent interest.

Interacting during the meeting with the rice millers, Pinki assured that sheller owners will not face any problem and he will discuss the issue with the Chief Minister and Food and Supply Minister for change in the milling policy.

He said, the shelter industry is directly attached with the future of the Punjab and efforts will be made to provide the maximum relaxation in the custom milling policy.

Rice Millers Association representatives – Ranjit Singh, Gurdeep Singh Gill, Bittu Comrade, Kapil Sethi, Deepak Awla, Ajay Sethi, Gurvinder Singh Sandha, Pawan Garg, Sanjeev Dhall, Satdev Narula, Amrik Singh, Yudhishter Kala, Raj Kapoor, Manpreet Brar, Kamal Garg, Rajiv Mangal said around Rs.12 crore is due of the rice millers from Punjab Government with the various agencies which has not yet been released by the concerned agencies so far.
