Resentment among farmers, remove PM and BJP hoardings

Ferozepur, January 5, 201: There was resentment among the members after the cancellation of the rally and the postponement of laying the foundation stone of PGI Satellite Centre.  The farmers were seen removing the hoardings of Modi and BJP. The protesters said, our protest will continue as the administration has backed out from its commitment of for Lakhimpur Khiri incident, the law of MSP, withdrawal of cases against farmers and compensation to the families 750 farmers’ families who sacrificed their lives at Delhi borders.

Due to inclement rain and not favourable weather conditions, the audience was also very thin and chairs were lying vacant at the site of the rally.

Earlier, without stating any specific reasons, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced from the stage the cancellation of PM Modi’s scheduled visit to Ferozepur.

As per the information, PM landed at Bathinda from where he was to go to National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala by helicopter,. Due to rain and poor visibility, PM waited for about 20 minutes for the weather to clear out and later on it was decided to travel by road and when the PM’s convoy reached a flyover ,  it was stuck on a flyover for about 20 minutes  by the protesters and is termed as security lapse.

The programme to lay the foundation stone of PGI Satellite Centre – the long awaited prime project of Ferozepur – has been postponed, said Mandaviya.

The farmers who had earlier announced to oppose the PM’s rally in Ferozepur had also been stopped to join the rally.  However, with late hours meeting with Central Minister, Gajendera Singh Shekhawat, the farmers demanded in writing about the meeting with the CM and committee for MPS and withdrawal of cases.
