Rana Sodhi demands for imposition of President Rule in Punjab

Maintain communal harmony by not playing in the hands of Akalis : Rana Sodhi

Ferozepur, October 20, 2015: Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, MLA, Guruharsahai and Vice President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee expressed grave concern on the fast deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab.

Rana Sodhi reiterated the demand raised by Capt. Amarinder Singh, Ex Chief Minister and Dy Leader of Congress Party in Lok Sabha upon the Central Government led by the BJP to impose President Rule in Punjab immediately to save it from drifting back to the dark days of 1980s.

Ran Sodhi castigated the Akali – BJP dispensation for their failure to realize its gravity and show sensitivity towards the farmers’ agitation.   Instead of giving adequate compensation to the farmers for the extensive damage caused to their crops, they are being subjected to brutal cane charge and firing resulting to death of two persons at Faridkot and injuries to hundreds.

This is the height of insensitivity on the part of Akali Government  led by Prakash Singh Badal who claimed and swore day in and day out to be the Masiha of the farmers. Earlier, he never missed an opportunity to blame the Congress Party for all problems relating to the farmers, said Rana Sodhi.

The Akali Govt. has now come out before the people in their true colours.  The Akali Leaders have no agenda for welfare of the people and development of Punjab other than plundering its natural resources and usurping all other sources of revenue generation.  There is hardly any industry/business which is either not owned or shared by the Badal family.  Every Business House is being coerced to share their wealth with the Badal family to ensure their survival, added Rana Sodhi.

Congress MLA Rana Sodhi said, “To divert the attention of the people from the ongoing farmers agitation and it’s all round failure, the Govt. appears to have engineered the issue of sacrilege of the Holy Book without realizing its dangerous impact on the social fabric of the society.   Our hostile neighbor (Pakistan) is eagerly waiting for an opportunity to ignite the situation to bring back the days of militancy in the state.”

Rana Sodhi stated that the Badal Govt. has proved itself to be incapable of handling the self created volatile situation in the state. Being the border state touching international border with ever hostile Pakistan which is on look out for an opportunity to boil it and bleed it to avenge their loss of erstwhile territory of East Pakistan now Bangladesh.

Finding it in total blind, the Punjab Government has now called in para-military forces in Punjab to tackle the law & order situation, which proves the political and administrative bankruptcy of the Govt.  Throughout his political career, Badal had opposed deployment of para-military forces tooth and nail. It will put additional financial burden on the already indebted Govt.  which finds it difficult even to pay its employees’ salaries on time.  During Congress regimes, Punjab was cash rich No. 1 state in the country.  Now, the Akali Govt. is planning to sell its real estate assets to sell to make both ends meet.

Rana Sodhi made a strong demand on  the Central Govt. to see the writing on the wall and impose President Rule to save Punjab from slipping into further anarchy, as already demanded by Capt. Amarinder Singh.

Rana Sodhi gave a clarion call to the people of Punjab to maintain communal harmony at all costs by not playing into the hands of Akalis’ misleading propaganda but wait for giving a stunning blow in 2017 and bring back Congress Party to power in Punjab for better living and all round prosperity.
