Railways up in arms to prevent spread of COVID-19 infection
Ferozepur, March 16, 2020: To meet with the challenge of coronavirus, the railway authorities have made number of steps at various levels as a precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.
DRM Ferozepur, Rajesh Aggarwal addressing the media persons said, the railway too is ready in with adequate preventing measures across the railway system, to fight with pandemic coronavirus, declared as global pandemic, saying prevention is always better than cure as it has an impact in around 135 countries.
Expressing his concern over the spread of coronavirus, he said, around 2.50 crore passengers travel using lifeline of India, every day, which is equal to the small countries in the world, and critical to India’s virus containment plan. The chances of infection are more in the moving population than the stationary in comparison.
Even the sitting arrangement in the conference hall was made by leaving one chair between the two persons, as a symbolic to give a message of consciousness about the coronavirus.
A video of Baba Sehgal, was also screened, giving a message in his song to adopt the Namastey culture to fight with the coronavirus or any other infectious disease.
He said, no doubt everyone is taking steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus at his own level but the railways too have take the steps like suspending bio-metric attendance, thermal scanning, cleaning the rods of each compartment after the stoppage of train at the railway station by providing the chemicals and sanitizer, making arrangement of beds for quarantine and isolation at the main stations like J&K, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Ferozepur, cleanliness drive at short duration, pasting of posters of Do’s and Don’ts in local languages at railway stations and in trains, to protect yourself and others, withdrawing the blankets by controlling the temperature for the comforts of passengers, removing the curtains, thermal screening, check-up of boarding staff etc.
DRM said, as per the directions of the railways, we are taking all steps in order to prevent the spread of virus.
Sr.DME Raj Kumar and other officers of DRM office concerning maintenance, store, monitoring, doctor from divisional hospital also shared the arrangements at their level to fight with the challenge of coronavirus, to minimize the spread of the outbreak.
