Railways official clarifies, it’s fake news – “Now You Can Travel On Another Person’s Ticket Too, Here Is How!”

Ferozepur, April 30, 2023: A news had been appearing in the internet and in circulation on social media that Now You Can Travel On Another Person’s Ticket Too. 

It is stated in the news that – Are you aware of this facility in which you can travel on another person’s tickets? Yes! Indian Railways permits passengers to transfer their tickets to another person if they are not able to travel due to any reason.

Further added in news is – This facility has been present for a long time, but people are still not aware of it. If you don’t know how you can take advantage of this facility, we are here to make you understand.

If you have a confirmed ticket for Indian railways and due for some reason you are not able to travel then, of course, you can transfer it to another member of your family including your father, mother, brother, sister, son, and daughter, husband, and wife.

But to perform such an activity, a passenger has to request the transfer of tickets 24 hours before the time of departure. After you apply for the transfer, the existing passenger’s name has been cut off from the list and the person who wants to travel on his/her confirmed ticket’s name will be added, meaning the ticket now will be under the name of the person who will be traveling in place of the first person.

When all this was brought to the notice of DRM office for clarification.  A one line message was received that it is a fake news.
