Railway to eliminate all unmanned railway crossings in Ferozepur Division by 2019

Ferozepur, August 11, 2016 : In its endeavor to achieve the ‘zero accident’ target, railways has undertaken an action plan to eliminate all the unmanned railway crossings in the country and the thrust is on for construction of rail over bridges, rail under bridges and manning the unmanned level crossings to prevent accidents, in Ferozepur Rail Division also.

By 2019, all 59 unmanned railway crossings will be eliminated, said Anuj Parkash, Divisional Rail Manager, Ferozepur.

Under this plan, 15 low height subway, 4 low traffic vehicular unit will be closed by connecting 25 gates to other main gates and low heigh subway and out of which the work on four gates have since been completed  as per the details – one gate of each Jalandhar-Suchhipind and Beas Goindwal Sahib Section have been closed by connecting with the other gates and gate ment on Ferozepur-Bahtinda Section Gate C-4 and C-11 have been posted.   However,  the work at the remaining 55 gates is still pending which too wold be completed in phased manner from August to March.

DRM said, the section wise details of low height subway to be removed are  – Ferozeur-Jalandhar, Ferozepur-Fazilka, Nawanshahr-Jajon, Nawanshahar-Raho, Jalandhar-Pathankot, Pathankot-Amritsar, Pathankot-Jammu Tavi, Jalandhar Cantt-Hoshiarpur, Verka-Dera Baba Nanak, Amritsar-Khek Karan, Kot Kapura-Fazilka.

Giving all this information, DRM said, like last year, all works in the division will be completed on the target dates and all unmanned gates in Ferozepur Division will be eliminated by 2019.

However, as temporary measures, the Railways have deployed Gate Mitars (Gate Counselors) on contractual basis, he added.
