Railway celebrates 61st Rail Week at Divisional Office, Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 2, 2016 : Divisional Rail Manager, Anuj Parkash congratulated all the officers and officials of the Ferozepur Railway Division on the occasion of 61st Rail Week celebrations, for bagging various prizes at the level of Railway Board, Northern Railway Headquarter, Divisional Offices.
Added here, the Ferozepur Rail Division has a special place in the Indian Railways because of its wide area of operation from Abohar in South to Baramula in North. The Firozpur division is headed by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM). The history of Firozpur Division is almost as old as of the Indian Railways. The first Railway line of the area, from Amritsar to Atari, was opened in April, 1862. The Division, with a route kilometerage of 1550 including 164 kms of narrow gauge and 235 stations caters to the Rail Transport needs of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and a part of Himachal Pradesh. Firozpur Division serves a large number of industrial and important towns like Amritsar, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Firozpur and Kapurthala in Punjab and Kangra, Palampur, Baijnath Paprola and Joginder Nagar in Himachal Pradesh. Jammu Tawi is an another important station on the Division which acts as a gateway to a large number of tourists and pilgrims visiting the scenic Kashmir Valley and the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi. Firozpur is also an important Division for freight traffic the main commodities loaded been food grains, Petroleum Products, Cotton, Machinery and Components. Inward traffic comprises Iron and Steel, Fertilizer, Coal, Petroleum Products and Cement.
This division also touches the boundaries of other states – Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pardesh apart from Pakistan. All the employees of the region have special contribution, Because of its vast geographical area of operation, because of its vast geographical area of operation.
During the year 2015-16, the division has done a commendable work. Not only in loading rather it maintained hundred percent time schedule for mail and express trains.
In view of best performance of 11 departments of the division, the best shields have been awarded which include diesel shed, loco, best coaching, best electric loco, train lighting air condition shields apart from bagging of shields by engineering, security, traffic, accounts departments which itself speaks about the commitment of the railways towards the passengers, said Anuj Parkash Divisional Rail Manager.
On this occasion, DRM appealed to take pledge for improvement in the movement of rails and providing services to the passengers.
DRM expressed his hope to provide the best administration with collective efforts by all and take the Ferozepur Division to the level of sky-high and continue to give services to the passengers with a smile.
