Punjab State Pharmacist’s Association gives ultimatum to accept demands by 12th December

Ferozepur, November 25, 2015:  The Punjab Pharmacist’s Association has given ultimatum to the Punjab Government to accepted their genuine demands including the already agreed one by December, 12, failing which the members of the Association will sit on dharna in front of the residence of Director Health Services on December 13 at Jalandhar followed by gehrao of DHS office, on the retirement day of  Director Health and Family Welfare and marching towards the residence of Health Minister.

After reviewing the on-going agitation of the Punjab State Pharmacists’ Association (PSPA) of work-to-rule and wearing black badges on the shoulders while on duty, in a meeting held under the tutelage of Sathi Sham Lal Sharma, State President, the Association decided to intensify its agitation.

The present among others in the meeting were Ravinder Luthra, General Secretary, Kulbhushan Singla, Chief Advisor, Jaswinder Singh Patti and others.

Speaking on this occasion, Luthra said, the already agreed demands of the Association in various meetings with the Health Minister, Principal Secretary Health and Director Health and Family Welfare like  changing of post of Pharmacists to that of Pharmacy Officer, Senior Pharmacy officer, Chief Pharmacy Officer, District Pharmacy Officer, promotion from Chief Pharmacists Grade I and Grade II instead of placement, follow up of Pharmacy Act 1948, creation of post of Deputy Director at the state level to look in to the demands of Pharmacy etc.

He further said that rolling back the amicably agreed demand of writing prescription to the patients in the absence of a doctor has added fuel to the fire.

Luthra said, it was also decided in the meeting to intensify the agitation with regard to regard to regularization of services of Pharmacists engaged on contract basis.

Making it clear to the government, Luthra said, the Association has been given the ultimatum to the Punjab Government to accept their genuine demands including the already agreed one and authorizing the Pharmacists to prescribe the medicines to the patients in the absence of a doctor, by December, 12, failing which the members of the Association will sit on dharna in front of the residence of Director Health Services on December 13 at Jalandhar followed by gehrao of DHS office, on the retirement day of  Director Health and Family Welfare and marching towards the residence of Health Minister.
