Punjab Police launched Rural Rapid Police Response System to tackle rising crime in rural area
Ferozepur, July 1, 2016: With an aim to tackle rising crime in rural areas and to bring more efficiency in the system by decreasing the response time, the Punjab Police today launched Rural Rapid Police Response System in Ferozepur. In all 26 vehicles and 51 motorcycles have been deployed in 12 police stations divided in 77 beats to provided 24x7x365 services.
Manminder Singh, SSP Ferozepur said, “Perhaps, this is the first time in the country by the Punjab Police that in event of any disturbed, disastrous or adverse situation, the police team will reach within ten minutes through the Rural Rapid Police Response System (RRPRS) by dialing 100 number”.
The fleet of RRPRS includes 10 new Bolero vehicles and 30 new motorcycles. All these vehicles will be equipped with latest technology machinery and trained staffed. On all these vehicles, 206 police officials will remain on duty who will report immediately on getting the information from the control room which has been upgraded.
SSP said, “Through the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software fitted in the Police Control Room (PCR), the information will be exchanged so rapidly to reach the police on the spot without any loss of time”.
Sources said, “In future, these vehicles will also be equipped with the GPS system and CCTV cameras”.
