Ferozepur, August 19, 2023: Due to heavy rains in the upper hills, the water flow in the Sutlej River has gone up resulting in submerging of around 20 villages, the closing of about 20 schools, and the cancellation of trains.Today even the light and sound show area and samadhi of Punjab Mata – mother of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, at National Martyrs Memorial, Hussainiwala, has also gone under water.
The Hazare Wala bridge which connects around 15 villages, was being repaired, too overflowed with water with the result that thesd villages are cut off from the Ferozepur.

NDRF, BSF and Army teams are busy in the evacuation of people from the villages to the safe places where relief camps have been set up.
People of the area said, due to the heavy current of water released from Hari ke Headworks, the villages at the low level have been flooded with water and people have shifted to high places, with household goods and valuables, whatever they could carry and animals.

As per information, today morning, the PL- Pond Level at Hussainiwala Headworks was 647.50 while the DS- Down Tream was 282875 while at Harike Headworks was 686.50 and 2,75,695.
The health department has also set up medical camps to provide health facilities and medicines. The patient with serious conditions are bright shifted to the Civil Hospital.
