Punjab BJP President campaigns for Municipal Elections in Ferozepur
31 wards, 270 candidates in race, BJP fielded 23, SAD 8 and Congress 26 candidates
Ferozepur, February 17 : With the understanding of seat sharing between the sworn alliance of SAD-BJP, in municipal council elections in the state and Congress party not finding suitable candidates while AAP out of the race, the majoring winning of SAD-BJP is sure.
There are 31 wards in Ferozepur with 73121 voters – 38302 male and 34819 female. Eight wards including three for women candidates are reserved for SC candidates while one ward is reserved for BC candidate.
During the last term, the wards were 25 with winning status was SAD-BJP 16, Congress 6 and Independent 3.
For the current elections, Mandeep Kaur, BJP Candidate from Ward Number 13 has been elected unopposed as her rival, an independent candidate from this ward Balvir Kaur withdrawn her name today.
Charanjit Kaur, a sitting MC and a Candidate of SAD was already elected unopposed from ward number 21 since no candidate was in the opposition. Her Husband Navneet Gora is SAD’s City President.
Congress could not field candidates in all 31 wards. The congress could field only 26 candidates for the upcoming MC elections, where BJP has fielded 23 Candidates and SAD has fielded 8 candidates as per the seat sharing formula.
There are few wards where Independent candidates can give a tough competition to the candidates fielded by the parties
Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President was here today in his home town to formally campaign for the joint candidates of SAD-BJP.
In ward No.19, two candidates are contesting – Usha Rani (BJP) and Rajni Sachdeva (Congress) are contesting. Usha Rani’s husband Rajinder Chanana is sitting MC. While Rajni Sachdeva wife of Manoj Sachdeva is BA with ETT and Computer Course passed, Usha Rani is less qualified.
Speaking on this occasion in Ward No.19 – reserved for woman candidate – Kamal Sharma appreciated the efforts of Rajinder Chanana, sitting MC whose wife Usha Rani is contesting this time, for taking personal interest for the development of his ward.
He appealed to the voters to elect BJP-SAD candidate by judging the development works in the past.
He further said, Ferozepur looks developed with the recent facelift with the installation of traffic and lamp lights on the circular road and beautification of main crossings, if we see to the back years and still more is to be done. Various projects like Govt. College, Astroturf – Hockey stadium, PGI Satellite are likely to come up shortly as all formalities stands completed at all levels.
