Property dealers’ protest in Ferozepur over NOC rule for registry
Ferozepur, August 8, 2022: The resentment amongst the real estate developers and property dealers against the state government not fulfilling their demands does not seem to die down. In the latest development, today the local property dealers staged a massive protest at DAC complex Tehsil office, mini, against the government.
The two major demands of property dealers and real estate developers of Punjab include reversing the decision of making NOC mandatory for registry and reducing the collector rates which have been hiked exorbitantly.
They said, our protest is against the formulation of no policy over registry in Punjab by the government resulting in huge loss to the colonizers, property dealers and plot holders. The most affected category is a poor man, who is having valid documents of registry after making the deal. Besides, there is also a huge loss of revenue in government accounts.
During the last few days, the collector rates were increased from 50 to 60 per cent which is on the higher side putting an extra burden on the common man, they added.
They said, it is very sad that despite our repeated requests to the state government to listen and resolve our grievances, nothing has been done so far. But it is unfortunate that the business conditions for the real estate sector have gone to all time worst ever and the realty business has fully stopped.
Our protest will continue till such time the new policy on registry is not announced and collector rates are not reduced, said the protesters.
