Prof. D P Goyal appointed as first regular VC of SB State University in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, April 4, 2025: In a landmark decision, the Governor of Punjab has appointed Prof. D P Goyal, for a term of three years with effect from the date of assumption of office by hm, as the first regular Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, Ferozepur, since its establishment in April 2021.

His appointment has been welcomed by both teaching and non-teaching staff, who anticipate a new era of strategic growth and academic excellence at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University.

Prof. Goyal, currently serving as the Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong, brings over 36 years of rich experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. He has held prestigious positions at leading institutions such as MDI Gurgaon, IMT Ghaziabad, Punjabi University, and Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. Additionally, he spent nearly a decade as a visiting professor at Aarhus University, Denmark.

A distinguished academician, Prof. Goyal has supervised 15 Ph.D. scholars and published over 60 research papers in reputed ABDC-ranked journals. He has authored more than a dozen books, including a widely referenced textbook on Management Information Systems. His expertise extends to editorial roles in national and international journals, leadership in sponsored research projects, and training of senior professionals across various sectors.

Prof. Goyal has also contributed significantly to policy and academic governance, serving on expert committees, advisory boards, and councils of various national and international institutions.

An alumnus of Punjabi University, he holds an MBA and a Doctorate in Management Information Systems from Kurukshetra University.
