Police unearth 9 kg heroin worth Rs.45 cr at Indo-Pak Punjab border
Ferozepur, October 14, 2020: The Ferozepur police, on Wednesday, claimed to have put its hand on a smuggler having links with the Pakistan smugglers and recovered 9 kg heroin, buried below the barbed wire fence erected by Indian, inside its territory having Rs.45 crore value in the international market.
Smuggling of drugs, particularly heroin coming from Afghanistan through Pakistan, is common through the India-Pakistan border despite the barbed wire fence put up by India. Farmers, whose own agricultural land beyond the fence but within India’s territory, are allowed to go to their fields daily by the BSF for some specific period. Smugglers are known to use the area to hide drugs beyond the fence. Those going beyond the fence for agricultural purposes then pick up the consignments.
Divulging with details, SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh said the police team arrested Krishan Singh of village Lalu Wala in Makhu, had been arranging heroin consignments for supply in Ferozepur City area. On the basis of in-put that today a heroin consignment has been arranged in the area of BOP Lakha Singh Wala near Indo-Pak border, through gate number 205/M and Burji No.205/07, which he will be picking for further supply.
He said after arresting Krishan Singh by CIA Incharge, recovered 9 kg heroin at the designated spot across the barbed wire near Zero Line, having an international value of Rs.45 crore.
Further investigation from the accused are on, more important clues are expected to come on the surface and today seizure is definitely a grand success against the drug smugglers by the police team.
