Police cracked murder mystery in Ferozepur, held 3 including juvenile
Ferozepur, May 21, 2024: With the arrest of three accused including one juvenile, recovery of one motorcycle without a number and one illegal weapon, the Punjab Police have successfully cracked the gang active in Ferozepur and Moga districts, and solved the murder case of Jashanpreet Singh (33) of village Gorkha in District Tarn Taran.
Divulging with the details, Soumya Mishra, SSP said, On May 9, a report was received about the unidentified dead body, with tied hands and cloth in the mouth, lying near HariKe Headworks and a case was registered on the report of tea vendor Kulwant Singh in Canal Colony, Makhu. The body was kept for 72 hrs for identification. A team under the tutelage of Randhir Kaur, SP(Investigation), Balkar Singh DSP(D) Ferozepur, Gurdip Singh, DSP Zira along with CIA Ferozepur Makhu police station staff. As per the investigation by the team, the dead body was identified as Jashanpreet Singh on Tarn Taran.
Appreciating the efforts of the team members, SSP said, the team members taking technical help with the scrutiny of more than 100 CCTV cameras, arrested two accused identified as Navdeep Singh alias Nav (21), Jaskaran Singh alias Jas (20) of Tarn Taran and one juvenile, on different dates including one from Kolkata in West Bengal. The juvenile accused have been sent to the Observation House at Faridkot. However, during investigation, it has come to the surface that Jashanpreet Singh due to some personal enmity, was put unconscious and later two accused Navdeep Singh alias Nav and Jaskaran Singh forcibly took him on the motorcycle murdered with a fire pistol in the head.
SSP further said, there was a dispute at Tarn Taran and to take revenge, the accused murdered Jashanpreet and the gang was operating in the Ferozepur and Moga districts. The accused have to admit having committed 4 crimes, involved in snatching of Rs.60,000, two incidents at the toll plaza and petrol pump. While Navdeep Singh had a previous criminal record at Hari Ke PS of May 2023 booked under Sections 380, 454, 427 IPC and in the instant case, all have been booked under Section 302 of IPC at Makhu with the addition of 34 and 25 Arms Act. However, further investigations are underway.
