Police Commemoration Day: Remembering sacrifice of police bravehearts in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 20, 2021: Remembering the sacrifice of police personnel, ahead of Police Commemoration Day on October 21, who lost their lives for the unity and integrity of the nation during terrorism while discharging their duties, Ferozepur SSP Harman Hans and other police officers visited personally the homes of 45 families to pay tributes to the brave personnel of the district.
Added here, the state police had sacrificed its 2,719 officers and constables while fighting terrorism in the country, whereas during the era of black days of terrorism in the state, 1,784 officers and officials of the police force lost their lives to counter-terrorism.
Due to Covid guidelines restrictions, no formal function is being held. However, the 45 families of police brave hearts, in the district are being honoured, in two days, by visiting personally their houses by the various police officers besides to redress any of their problems at the earliest said SSP.
Ahead of PCD, today SSP paid a visit to meet the family of HC Baldev Raj (1539) at Ferozepur who sacrificed his life at Ludhiana on December 19, 1991, in a bomb blast by the terrorists.
He said, we are always proud of the brave men who fought with grit and valour. The police department always led from the front whenever there were efforts to disturb peace and harmony. Moreover, martyrs are a source of inspiration as they inspire each of us to perform duty with devotion.
