Patwaris to suspend revenue work in 5500 villages in Punjab from 23rd June
Ferozepur, June 22, 2016: On Jun 15, the Punjab Revenue Patwar union had declared that the all the revenue Patwaris would give up the charge of about 2000 additional circles from 23rd June which would affect approximately 5500 villages in the state.
Harmeet Vidyarthi, President, Revenue Patwar Union, declared today in a dharna staged outside the DAC complex Ferozepur on Wednesday. He added that this status would continue till the Government accepts their demands.
Condemning the attitude of the government, the Union has taken this decision in its meeting held at Ludhiana on June 8 to sit on dharna at the district headquarters on June 22 and from the next day the charge of additional circles will be given up.
The demands of the union include giving time scale to Patwari as Kanungo after 15 years, at Naib Tehsildar after 25 years and Tehsildar after 30 years, providing computers to Patwaris, cancellation of false cases against the patwaris registered without departmental enquiries, making of smaller circles because of increased volume of work at kanungo level, deployment of one kanungo for every five patwaris and a separate kanungo and assistant kanugo office should be set up along with recruiting or posting a kanungo, said Gurtej Singh Gill, State Vice President.
