Ferozepur, May 10, 2016:  It was a tragic and touching incident in Ferozpeur when four children between 11-15 years age drowned in the canal near Bareke in Ferozepur.

In all, eight children had gone for outing and having a bath in the canal perhaps due to rise in temperature in Ferozepur.

Sources said, first they had gone near the Satluj river at Hussainiwala where they were stopped by the cops of BSF and then all the eight school going students have come back to the canal near Bareke.  While four children jumped in to the canal in the deep water and drowned, other four children remained at the banks of the canal are safe.

The bodies of all the four children have been recovered sent to the civil hospital for post mortem.

Immediately on getting the information, Er.DPS Kharbanda, DC, Manminder Singh, SSP Ferozepur, Vibhore Sharma, DSP and Kamal Sharma former Punjab BJP President reached the spot.

More details are being obtained about the incident.

As per the information gathered, the teenagers were identified as Vishal, Prince, Love, Ishtbir, Dev, Anish, Paras and Abhi, all of the age group of 11-15 years and resident of Shanti Nagar, Ferozepur.

On return, they have decided to have a bath in the canal near Bareke.  The teenager – Dev, Anish, Paras and Abhi refused the plan and survived while the remaining four jumped into the canal full of mud and could not come out.

The surviving kids informed the unfortunate parents.  However, as per the information, some of the youths reported to have appeared in Career Training Programme Test (CTPT) and told their parents that they are going to collect the result.
