Pak-based Chairman Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation appeals to declare Lala Lajpat Rai’s house as National Heritage
Lahore/Ferozeur, November 20, 2023: The Pakistan-based Chairman Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi has made an appeal to the Pakistan government to declare Lala Lajpat Rai as National Heritage.
Giving this information, Qureshi, who himself is an advocate by profession, recalled the atrocity, on Lala Lajpat Rai, who was killed due to suffering grievous injuries during a lathi charge carried out by the police, during the Simon Commission Go Back movement. He was also once a President of the Lahore High Court Bar Association, in 1896, he was lathi-charged mercilessly by the police and he died. Shaheed Bhagat Singh took revenge by killing the Assistant Superintendent of Police John Saunders on December 17, 1928. Bhagat Singh too was hanged on March 23, 1931, along with his associates Rajguru and Sukhdev.
After visiting the house of Lala Lajpat Rai, Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi appealed to the Government of Pakistan to declare the house a National Heritage, which is presently in possession of the Daily Insaf newspaper, on a lease basis and people of both the countries India and Pakistan love Lala Lajpat Rai which will be visiting spot for the tourists.
