Pages of Holy Books found torn in cremation ground in Mallanwala near Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 6, 2017 : Pages of Holy Sikh Books – Sukhmani Sahib and Gutka Sahib – were on Saturday allegedly found torn in cremation ground in village Mallanwala near Ferozepur, leading to tension in the area.
Notably, several incidents of alleged desecration have taken place in different parts of Punjab. This was one of the major issues raised by the AAP and the Congress in their campaigns ahead of the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections.
As per the information, today morning when Amrik Singh resident of Ward No.6 had gone to the cremation ground along with his relatives, for collection of remaining mortals of his son Luvi, some pages of Holy Books of Sikhs were found scattered on the ground.
Immediately on getting the news, Kulbir Singh Zira, MLA, Jathedar Sant Singh Mallanwala, Baba Chatar Singh, President Gurdawara Singh Sabha Mallanwala, Baba Dilbgh Singh, Chief Sewadar Rama Lal Gurdawara Arif Ke and many leaders of religious institutions and citizes reached there. The spread out pages were collected and respectfully kept at Gurudawara Singh Sabha.
Expressing concern over the incident, Kulbir Singh Zira said, the unscrupulous persons involved in the sacrilege incident will not be spared.
On the other hand, a six members committee – Baba Chatar Singh, Sant Singh, Nachhatar Singh Sandhu, Balwinder Singh, Satwant Singh and Lakhbir Singh – has been constituted to investigate into the incident, to pin point the accused.
