Over 100 children with intellectual disabilities showcase their artistic talents in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, December 5, 2023: Over 100 children with disabilities participated in the district-level World Disabled Day celebrations organised, on Tuesday, by the Social Security and Women and Child Development Department Punjab, at Sri Ram Bagh Birdh Seva Ashram Ferozepur Cantonment. In this event, Suraj Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (General), participated as the chief guest. Renu Bala, District Social Security Officer, Ashok Behal, Secretary Red Cross, Vipul Narang Social Activist, Harpreet Singh, Shelly Kamboj, Harpreet Singh, President Khalsa Gurudwara Cantonment were also present on this occasion.
Every year, World Disabled Day is celebrated on December 3, in convenience on December 5 in Ferozepur, to spread awareness, mobilise support for the rights and well-being and encourage children with disabilities. In the district-level programme, more than 100 children with intellectual disabilities showcase and exhibit their unique artistic talents.
Speaking on the occasion, Suraj said, we should always be in harmony with disabled children so that they should never realize that they are disabled. In this event, the children of Bhagat Puran Singh School Katora and Muskan School presented a cultural program and many other children showed their artistic talents, specially trained by the dedicated teachers.
Later, the gift packs containing warm clothes and caps, contributed by the Social Security office, Sarbat Da Bhala Welfare Society and social activists, were distributed to the children by the Chief Guest, followed by delicious refreshments, tea and Rs.100 cash to each participant.
Mrs. Renu Bala, District Social Security Officer. Apart from this, Sarbat da Bhala Welfare Society and social worker Vipul Narang distributed warm clothes to the children. At the end of the event, District Social Security Officer Ms. Renu Bala and her staff thanked all the guests., to spread awareness, mobilise support for rights and well-being and encourage children with disabilities.
