On Diwali, Kamal Sharma salutes war heroes at Barki Square Memorial in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 30, 2016: Today, Kamal Sharma, former Punjab BJP President and Member BJP National Executive Committee, visited Barki Square Memorial to pay tributes to the heroes of the 1965 Indo-Pakistan war.
The milestone engraved with Lahore 15 miles Kalasmari 4 and in Urdu Lahore which was brought from Lahore during 1965 war, as a token of ‘war winning rememberance’ is installed in Ferozepur Cantonment area at Barki Square Memorial
Added here, during last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had paid a surprise visit to the border town Ferozepur and Amritsar on Diwali at the same place. Modi’s visit was kept under wraps by senior defence authorities as even senior civil and police officials were caught unawares.
Kamal Sharma said, it is only because of sacrifice of our soldiers that we are celebrating the festivals with our families at home.
He said, our Prime Minister has initiated the campaign to remember the soldiers for their sacrifices and this memorial also reminds us for bringing India to a respectful juncture after a long journey that witnessed martyrdom of brave hearts during 1965 war.
While I pay my gratitude from the core of my heart to those soldiers who are giving their duty as sentinels of our, at far off places from their homes, I also congratulate their families today on this great festival of Divali, said Kamal Sharma.
Kamal Sharma also ighted a ‘lamp of honour’ at the Barki Memorial in memory of our martyrs.
