NRI booked for harassing wife over dowry demand
Ferozepur, February 3, 2019: The women police have booked a Newzealand-based non-resident India – NRI youth for allegedly harassing his wife for dowry.
The accused has been identified as Vikram Sharma son of Arwinder Sharma hails from Kot Ise Khan, Distt. Moga presently settled at 3B/10 Hobson Street Oakland Newzealand.
Giving the details, Dalip Kumar Sharma son of Ram Dev of Jhatian Wali of Zira said, Jyoti Sharma, her daughter was married to Vikram Sharma on 2.9.2017 who is settled in Newzealand. After the marriage, he started harassing her over dowry demand.
According to Balwinder Singh, appointed as IO in this case, the accused has been booked under anti-dowry Act sections and for criminal breach of trust. A case under Section 498-A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 406 (Whoever commits criminal breach of trust ) of IPC, following a probe conducted by the women police station on the complaint Jyoti’s father, has been registered and further investigations are on. However, no arrest has so far been made.
