No weightage to Class XII marks in calculating the Ranks of JEE MAIN EXAM-2017
Ferozepur August 7, 2016: The Union Ministry of Human Resource (HRD Ministry) has decided that Class XII marks will not be a factor for determining rankings in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admissions to engineering undergraduate courses from next year.
Vijay Garg Lecturer said, the decision was taken by the Ministry after a committee set up by IIT Council submitted recommendations on changes in the JEE pattern, which were put in the public domain for wide consultations.
MHRD has decided on a few changes in the JEE pattern for 2017. The present system of allotting 40 per cent weightage to Class XII marks for determining ranks in JEE shall be dispensed with, he added.
Garg added that the candidates who wish to take admission in IITs, NIT's, IIIT's, CFTI's where students admitted on the basis of JEE rank, must score a minimum of 75% in class 12th (65% for S.C/S.T).
However, the candidates can make maximum 3 attempts to appear in JEE MAIN, he added.
