No social security for retirees, employees protest to introduce old pension scheme
Ferozepur, October 26, 2018: Hundreds of employees today under the banner of Punjab and UT Mulazam Sangharsh Committee protested in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner to express their resentment for non-acceptance of their genuine demands and later burn in effigy of Punjab Government.
Addressing the protesters, Kishan Chand Jagowalia and others of Punjab and UT Mulazam Sangharsh Committee alleged that there will be no social security of employees who joined services after January 1, 2004 as they will not be having the facility of pension and the survival of a retiree would be difficult in view low bank interest on fixed deposits.
They further said that because of anti-employees policies, the instructions like Thermal Plant, Suwida Kendra, Sewa Kendra and others have been closes relieving the employees. The protesters asserted that the four DA instalments and arrears of 22 months have not been released so far making an excuse of having of funds in the government treasury rather another tax of Rs.200 per month has been imposed.
They also demanded from the government to regularize the school teachers and other employees, without any condition and totally stop the privatization of government departments.
The retired employees who joined after January 1 2004 will have no social security and the Committee members demanded the revival of old pension scheme as per the guidelines of Supreme Court of equal work, equal pay.
