National Voters’ Day celebration – a move to encourage First Time Voters under SVEEP programme: Er Kharbanda

NATIONAL VOTERS DAY AT SBS

 

Ferozepur, January 25,2016 :  National Voter Day was celebrated on 25 January at District Level in District Administration Complex, Ferozepur. Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Er. D. P. S. Kharbanda, IAS was Chief Guest during this function. Sh. Vimal Kumar Setia, IAS, ADC (G), Ferozepur, Ms Jasleen Kaur PCS, Assistant Commissioner Ferozepur and SDM, Ferozepur Sh. Sundeep Garha PCS, were guest of honour during this function.

 

The function was started with Oath ceremony by Er. D. P. S. Kharbanda for encouraging youth, especially first time Voters. He told all Officials of Election Office of Ferozepur District to create awareness among youth about the electoral process and increase people&#39s participation in voting for the impending Assembly Elections. The move to encourage first time voters, specially student’s participation in the electoral process comes as a part of the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme conceived by the Election Commission of India.

 

During this function three students, namely Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, Ms Mandeep Kaur and Ms. Harpanthparteek Kaur from Computer Engg Department of Polytechnic Wing of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus, Ferozepur were honoured for coming in first position in Declamation Contest organised recently. Prof. Gazal Preet Singh, Principal Polytechnic Wing was also honoured during this occasion for his efforts in organising various events like Slogan Writing, Essay Writing, Declamation Contest, Human Chain and Signature Campaign to create awareness among the voters as per the directions of Election Commission of India. These events were organised under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme.

 

Prof Gazal Preet Singh, Principal Poly Wing emphasized that it is very important to sensitize the youth and take forward the message of the Election Commission of India which campaigns for “ethical voting” as their central theme. Dr T. S. Sidhu, Director Technical Campus congratulated three students of Polytechnic Wing who were honoured by District Administration on National Voters Day.
