National Lok Adalat in Ferozepur decides 1338 cases with award of Rs.10.46 crore

Ferozepur 08 July 2017 : Following the Honorable Supreme Court's order, Justice S.S.Sran, Executive Chairman, Punjab Legal Services Authority and according to the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court of Chandigarh, the National Lok Adalat was held in the courts of District Ferozepur under the tutelage of S.K. Aggarwal, District and Sessions Judge, Firozpur, with 11 benches in the Firozpur court, 1 Bench in the Permanent Lok Adalat, 1 Bench in Guru Harsahai and 2 Benches in Zira were formed.

District and Sessions Judge S.K. Aggarwal said that 2112 cases have been kept in Lok Adalat and 351 cases have been disposed of and 42252237 has been passed and in Pre-Lok Adalats, out of 4244 cases, 1037 cases were disposed of and 62424862 passed. A total of 1,388 cases have been disposed of through the National Lok Adalats.

He informed that two cases of Motor Accident Claim Tribunal were disposed of with Rajinama on the spot, in which case Seema Rani wife of Mukhtiar Singh of village Peeran Wala was given compensation of Rs.9.50 lac by the insurance  company and one claimant Harbans Kaur's wife of Om Parash  resident of Peera Wala, Ferozepur was given Rs.7.25 lac compensation from the insurance company because her husband died in an accident.

He said that more and more people of this Lok Adalat took advantage of and settled their on going cases through mutual consent. There is no appeal argument in any other court of the courts against the decision in this Lok Adalat.

He said that the decision in Lok Adalat has been recognized as decree and the decisions are satisfactory so that all the parties get relief from the litigation and other mental problems.

In addition, giving information about the Mediation Center, he said, the people in the mediation center can get their case decided by mutual consent and those who are unable to move the case in court, can also settle their cases with mutual consent.  There is also no appeal against the decision taken in the Mediation Centre and mutual brotherhood is also maintained between the parties.
