“Month-Long Drive” by Railway Protection Force against train goons concludes
Ferozepur, July 15, 2016: A month-long drive by Railway Protection Force (RPF) against train robbers after on instructions of Director General, RPF, in view of rising cases of thefts and robberies on trains, was also launched in Ferozepur Rail Division which concluded today. The RPF jawans and officials will be imparted training at the Training Centre shifted from Delhi to Jalandhar and will work on the pattern of NGOs.
The aim of the a 30-day’s drive (15 June-15 July) was to prevent and detect such crimes which will also send a loud and clear message about security preparedness of RPF, said Shadan Zeb Khan, Sr Divisional Security Commissioner RPF, Ferozpur Division.
During this period, the focus was given on the development of Soft Skill and training of RPF men working at the cutting edge to sensitize regarding their behavior with railway passengers particularly ladies, aged and physically challenged people, he added.
The passengers were also educated in all the coaches and especially in general, ladies coaches and coaches reserved for physically challenged about security through distribution of pamphlets. Besides, a drive against unauthorized vendors and touts was also conducted, Khan added.
Khan informed that a Help Line for the convenience of the passengers have been launched which has brought down the crime graph.
During the fortnight drive – 16 June- 30June, 533 unauthorized vendors under section 144 of Rail Act were arrested besides recovery of 32 e-tickets from those doing the illegal sale of tickets. Apart from this, 3917 person were arrested under section 144 of Rail Act and 6 persons under 143 Section. Likewise, during the second phase of campaign – July 1-July 14 – certain people were also arrested under sections 156 and 162 Rail Act, he added.
Khan said, to update the jawans of RPF about their duties, such campaigns are organizes from time to time.
Making an appeal to the rail passengers, Khan said, they should also understand their responsibility during the journey and extend full cooperation to the RPF.
