Ferozepur, September 25,2021: During the surprise checking of jail premises by a team headed by Sukhjinder Singh, Assistant Superintendent, one mobile with battery and SIM card was recovered from under trial prisoner Amandeep Singh alias Sunny already in the jail. During the year, 193 mobiles have been recovered, including today’s recovery.
With the frequent recovery of mobiles from inside jail, has put a question mark on the security arrangements at the entry points and the purpose of keeping the inmates away from the outer world as punishment is lost. The mobiles provide inmates the ability to make and receive unauthorized phone calls, send email and text messages, use social media and follow news pertaining to their case among other forbidden uses.
A case under Section 52-A Prisons Act has been registered against the inmate and further investigations are on with Roshan Lal, IO.
