Mobile phone usage continues unabated in Ferozepur, 3 mobiles unearthed
Ferozepur, July 11, 2023: The mobile usage continued unabated in Ferozepur central jail when three more mobiles were unearthed from the three under trial prisoners during the two surprise checks by the Assistant Superintendents. The recovery of mobiles from inside the jail – the most wanted banned item in the jail by the prisoners to remain in contact with the outside world with the family or to misuse while in the jail – continue to make their way in the jail barracks and recently three more mobiles have been seized during the surprise checking by the Assistant Superintendents.
As per the information, two mobiles with battery and SIM card were recovered from two under trial prisoners identified as Gurdas Singh and Rajpal already lodged in the jail in certain cases are facing trial in the court of law. Another mobile was recovered during the second surprise check by Jasvir Singh, Assistant Superintendent from Arshdeep Singh, under trial prisoner, who two is already in the jail. All the three prisoners have been booked under Section 52-A of Prisons Act at the local city police station. Further investigations have been entrusted to Gurmail Singh, IO.
Earlier, 256 mobiles have been recovered during the current year, from this jail on different checking or thrown from the outside over the high walls or found lying in the campus as unclaimed.
According to the jail and police authorities, the security at the entry points and patrolling outside the jail have been intensified but the mobile continued to find a place inside the jail with one or the other reason and the connivance of the staff cannot be ruled as in the past certain jail officials and hospital staff has also been found to be involved in this menace.
The jail authorities are planning to use the Non-Linear Junction(NLJ) Detectors quickly detect and locate hidden electronic devices in the campus and only the coming time will establish about its impact but mobile inside the jail continue to be ‘most wanted item’, to remain in contact with the family members or for its misuse by the prisoners for their vested interests.
