Medical Practitioner Association Punjab to organize ‘Chetna March’ on Sept. 27 dedicated to Shaheed Bhagat Singh birthday celebrations
Ferozepur, September 25, 2015: The Medical Practitioner Association Punjab (MPAB) disclosed in a press conference -presided over by Dr.Dhanna Mall Goyal, State President – held in Press Club, Ferozepur to intensify their ‘do or die’ stir for non acceptance of their demands and gehrao the Health Minister at his home district Fazilka.
The MPAB will also organize zone level ‘Chetna March’ dedicated to Shaheed Bhagat Singh birthday celebrations on September 27 from Hussainiwala Martyrs Memorial by paying floral tributes to the martyrs.
Dr.Dhanna Mall speaking to the media persons said, the carvan of members of MPAB in thousands will reach Hussainiwala from Malwa region. He said, we are the successor of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and fighting for our rights by becoming sentinel of his ideology.
He said, health services and education is the birth right of every citizens but the governments are not fulfilling its promises. He further said, there are about one lakh medical practitioners in the villages and slum areas of Punjab providing economical and basic health services where the government services are lacking.
Dr.Mall said, at present there are only 76 hospitals, 150 community health centers in Punjab and about 1.2 lakh population comes under these community health centers. For 13000 villages, only 3,000 dispensaries are working.
He desired that the problems of medical practitioners should be solved on priority so that the people continue to get the economical health services in the state. It could only be possible if the RMPs are recognized and the ban on registration of new RMPs since 1963, is lifted.
He said, the Health Minister has backed out from its commitment with the association for their genuine demands.
Mall said, in the coming days, the association will organize zone level rally of Malwa region members at the home town of Health Minister at Fazilka.
In reply to the query, Mall said, there are only 2000-3000 RMPs of Punjab and rest of the medical practitioners has obtained their certification from other states. This is the reason; we are demanding the immigration of medical practitioners who get themselves registered in some others where the registration is still going on.
State President also advocated for the giving refresher training to the existing medical practitioners so that their services could also be officially utilized in the national health services programmes.
