Ferozepur, September 4, 2020:  Ferozepur- based leading social welfare organisation Mayank Foundation has decided to felicitate 25 teachers for making path- breaking efforts for education during lockdown on the occasion of the World Teachers’ Day. Considering the national mourning after the death of former President of India Pranav Mukherjee, the foundation has decided to confer the certificates of honour to the teachers through digital mode.

Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Kumar, Secretary of the foundation, informed that a small ceremony as per the corona protocols will be held later to felicitate these teachers who have been selected to take the honours for their exemplary role during the pandemic times.  However, in observance to the national mourning as a mark of respect for the late former President,

we have decided to award them digitally only on September 5, the Teachers’ Day.

Gazalpreet Singh, a founding member of the organisation revealed that the criterion for the award was set keeping in mind the works done by the teachers on various fronts to ensure quality education even during the times of corona. The idea behind felicitating teachers is an emblematic   of the respect the foundation has for teaching community. Teachers are the true makers of the nation.

The prominent names among the teachers who are to be honoured include Social Science teacher Jasvir Singh, primary teacher Charanjit Singh and Hindi mistress Jyoti, who have already created a niche for themselves in the field of education.

Jasvir Singh, who quit his job as a station master in Indian Railways to join as a teacher only to chase his first love for teaching, has earned a great respect among teachers, students and public alike.

Jyoti works tirelessly and despite being physically challenged, she made it a point to reach out to her students to impart notes and teaching material.  Whereas, Charanjit Singh, besides teaching, has also won many accolades in the field of Guide and Scouts.

The other teachers who are be awarded on the day include, Rajni Madahar, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Nirvair Singh, Dr. Kamal Khanna, Sushma Bala, Amandeep Kaur, Shikha Malhotra, Anmol Sharma, Pooja Garg, Shivani, Sanjeev Sikri, Samriti, Gourav Kalia , Anil Dhawan, Gurmeet Singh, Sukhwinder Kaur, Pooja Arora, Anu Sharma, Sanjeev Mehta, Shaveta Rani, Kuldeep Kaur and Anu.
