Mayank Foundation launches reflector pasting campaign for fog alert
Drive to put reflectors on vehicles for fog alert launched in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, December 26, 2020: Ferozepur-based, Mayank Foundation, in collaboration with the traffic police, launched a drive to paste reflectors on the front and rear of vehicles here on Saturday.
The move comes after a spurt in accidents owing to persistent foggy conditions in the city during early morning and late evening, in the past few days. The drive began in the morning and covered around 400 vehicles in the different areas of the city.
Deepak Sharma, founder of the Foundation, in the name of his son – Mayank – who lost his life three years back in an accident – has dedicated various social activities in his name and pasting of reflectors is that series. He said, these radium reflectors are really useful. The drivers when plying in zero visibility cannot identify the distance between their vehicle and the one before them, causing accidents to happen. But the reflectors shine brightly when light falls on them, thus preventing collisions.
Addressing the media, young members of the Foundation advocates Rohit Garg and Ashish Sharma said that reduced visibility caused by the dense fog leads to many road tragedies. Reflectors, which allow the drivers to have a proper idea of the vehicles plying on the road, help in avoiding the ugly accidents, thus saving many valuable human lives.
While interacting with the vehicle owners, they also urged them to drive safely in queue and at a distance during these foggy days. They said, the Foundation has set the target of covering 5,000 vehicles under this campaign of installing reflectors on them.
Sukwinder Kumar, Assistant Police Inspector said, the fog has become increasingly dense during the last few days and due to which there is a surge in accidents. Therefore, under the Road Safety initiative, reflectors are being pasted on all the vehicles that do not have them.
