Malbros Liquor Factory, Zira Row: BKU joins protestors by breaking barricades, 32 farmers’ outfit to meet at Zira
Ferozepur, December 19, 2022: The 32 farmers’ outfits have called at meeting at Zira on Tuesday December 20, in support of the protesters sitting on dharna since July 26, demanding that the distillery be shut down as it was allegedly polluting underground water in several villages besides causing air pollution, said farmers sources at Zira.
Today, the Bharti Kisan Union (Ugrahan) members also reached the protest site in support of the protestors, by breaking the barricades. Condemning the action of the police, Joginder Singh Ugrahan, BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) President, Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan, Secretary alleged that the people of the area had been demanding to close down the factory for the last so many years and the protest for the last five months have also not been taken seriously.
Meanwhile, the farmers outfits have decided to meet at Zira for deciding further course of action.
Mandeep Singh Manna who had come from Amritsar said, the attitude of the government for deputing police force is not appreciable; the issue must be solved across the table.
