Malbros Factory Row: High Court directs Punjab Govt to deposit Rs 5 crore
Ferozepur, October 19, 2022: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Punjab government to deposit Rs 5 crore within one week in ongoing agitation agitation against Malbros Liquor Factory.
Earlier, National Green Tribunal has given a clean chit to the factory after getting the water and soil be samples tested from three government approved laboratries.
Even, the District Magistrate has also imposed Section 144 and asked the protesters to move 300 m away from the factory and will not obstruct the movement inside and coming outside from the factory. But the protesters are still counting with their protest.
In the meantime, the petition was filed on behalf of the Malbros International Company at Zira in Mansoorwal village, in the High Court.
In its petition, the company has alleged that for the last 3 months, a dharna has been organized in front of their company and the Punjab government has failed to lift this dharna due to which they are losing crores.
The company also argued that no rules have been violated on their part and they have the environmnet clearance certificate and all other documents, but in spite of this their company has been staging a sit-in.
It appears that the Punjab Government is not taking the issue seriously and despite repeated assurances, no efforts are being made by the Punjab Government,” the High Court noted.
However, the matter will be heard on November 22.
