Lion Kuldeep Gakhar President Lions Club Ferozepur, unfurled the National Flag
Ferozepur, January 26, 2017: Lion Kuldeep Gakhar, President, Lions Club Ferozepur unfurled the National Flag on Republic Day celebrations at Lions Bhawan, Ferozepur City.
Lions Club is a unit of the International Association of Lions Clubs – is a non-political social organization 1974 in Ferozepur.
A good number of members with their spouses were present to celebrate the Republic Day who congratulated each other saying ‘Happy Republic Day’.
Before unfurling the National Flag by Lion Kuldeep Gakhar, Lion Harish Monga read out the Invocation and Flag Salutation.
Lion Kuldeep Gakhar shared with this Correspondent that Lions Club Internatinal had 14,05,358 members in 47,195 clubs in 210 countries and geographical locations.
He said, 2017 is a Centennial Year and Lions Clubs are ushering in a year-long festival of services to the community.
Rakesh Pathak Secretary speaking to Ferozepuronline.com Correspondent said, India is celebrating its 68th Republic Day. First Republic Day of India was celebrated in 1950.
Republic day in India is celebrated every year with great honour on 26th of January to honour the Constitution of India as it came into force on the same day in the year 1950. It had replaced the Government of India Act, 1935 into the governing document of the India. At this day, a national holiday is declared by the Indian Government. The new Indian constitution was sketched and approved by the Indian Constituent Assembly and decided to celebrate it on 26th of January every year as India became a republic country.
As Independence Day in India is celebrated to enjoy the freedom of India from the British Rule, Republic Day in India is celebrated to commemorate the coming of its own constitution into force.
The ceremony was followed by delicious Brunch with sweet dish.
