Labourer working in high-security zone in jail caught while smuggling mobiles, drugs
Ferozepur, January 16, 2020: Hardly there is any search operation in the jail when there has not been the recovery of mobiles, drugs or other banned items and it is evident from today’s recovery of mobiles, zarda, beedis, tabaccoo and heroin.
With the frequent recovery of mobiles and other materials, from the jail campus has put the security arrangements under the scanner.
A case under section 52-A, 42 Prisons Act and NDPS Act, on the complaint of Sukhwant Singh Assistant Supdt. Jail has been registered against Sukhwinder Singh resident of Ferozepur for arranging smuggling in of these goods.
This time the modus-operandi to take this item inside the jail is when a mistry/labour identified as Sukhwinder Singh had come to do some work in the High Security Zone by Punjab Housing Corporation in the Central Jail. A tip-off was received in this regard and working on the in-puts, a search operation was carried out of welding machine and grinder leading to the recovery of 4 Sasung brand mobiles, 176 gm zarda, 6 undles of bidis Noor marka, 2 packets of Panchi Shap zarda and 8 gram heroin from the grinder.
Ajmer Singh, IO in this case informed that Sukhwinder Singh has been arrested and further investigations are on to bring the facts on surface.
