Khali to open five “Wrestling Schools” in Punjab
Ferozepur, February 7, 2016: Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler Dalip Singh Rana popularly known by his ring name The Great Khali, is going to open five “Wrestling Schools” in Punjab while one is already working in Jalandhar where the boys are being trained across India.
In all these academies, the poor youths will be imparted free wrestling training to keep away the students from the sixth river of drugs flowing, in the Punjab state.
These views were expressed with the media persons by Khali on his visit to this border town at PWD Rest House.
International Wrestler Dalip Singh (The Great Khali) said, “In all five wrestler academies will be opened in the Punjab State including one in Ferozepur. One is already working at Jalandhar wherein both boys and girls are getting training for different districts.”
Khali shared that youths addict to drugs only when they are unemployed.
“He is wedded to Punjab and opening the wrestlers academies in the state to keep the youths away from drugs”, Khali added.
He said “There is a big craze among the young generation and they want to become professional wrestlers. But in the absence of proper training in the country and lack of finance they fail to live their dreams. So I have decided to give their dreams a platform. The boys across India will be trained over there in Punjab itself and wrestling competitions will be organised in the big cities.
He further said, four youths are participating in WWE Championship after getting training from his academy.
Talking about the pious heritage of the state, Khali said, it is our duty to maintain it.
Khali informed that a wrestling has been arranged at Ludhina Academy on March 5, 2016 in which wrestlers from various countries are participating.
With regard to joining the politics, he said, he is not attached with any political party despite having received offers from certain parties.
Making it crystal clear, Khali said, one can serve the country even without joining the politics.
Khali was accompanied by local Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki, who making an appeal to the government said, the government should provide a suitable land for opening of wrestlers’ academy in this border town so that maximum youths could be free from drugs by joining the academy.
