JTF decides to stop serving mid-day meal from Nov 6 onwards

Ferozepur, November 13, 2017: The Mid Day Meal scheme in the state is facing financial crises as there have been no funds since August onwards and the teachers are managing on their own.  But in today’s meeting, the Joint Teachers Front has decided to stop the cooking of mid-day meal from November 6 onwards.

Giving information in this context, Sukhjinder Singh Khanpuria, Neeraj Yadav, Harjinder Handa, Paramjit Pamma, Gurjit Sodhi, Sandeep Tandon, Jaswinder Singh Mamdot, Anil Aadim said, for the last about four months there is no supply of ration for cooking of mid-day meal in the schools.  Even no funds have been received on this account and the teachers are managing from their own pocket to run the scheme.

They said the government is not serious about its planning so far as the continuances of schemes are concerned.  The Joint Teachers Front – JTF in its meeting today has decided to stop the cooking of the mid-day meal from November 6 onwards.

They further said, the department has received the instructions to release the funds for the purpose for 20 days only which is a mockery of the teaching class. Until such time, the entire balance amount is released, rather advance for one month, the Ferozepur schools will not go in for the serving of mid-day meal to the students.

They made it clear that in case the economic exploitation of the teachers is not stopped and in the event of any action against on any staff member, the JTF will reply at the front level for that action for which the responsibility will be solely of the concerned officials of the department.
