Jat agitation disturbs railway track schedule – number of trains cancelled
Ferozeur, February 20, 2016 : The Jat’s quota stir in Haryana has disturbed the railway track schedule and number of trains have to be cancelled by the railways causing inconvenience to the passengers.
As per the railway release, there was cancellation of trains, diversions, partial cancellation of trains due to the Jat agitation. Punjab was cut off with other parts of the country with the cancellation of Punjab Mail which starts from Ferozepur upto Mumbai, which passes through the national capital.
Due to Jat agitation, the long route trains cancelled were – Howrah-Sriganganagar Express, Mumbai-Ferozepur Janata Express, Gorakhdham-Hisar Express and Nanded-Sri Ganganagar Express.
Delhi-Bikaner, Mumbai Ferozepur, Delhi-Sri Ganganagar, Delhi-Pathankot Dhauladhar Express, Delhi-Ludhiana-Delhi, Tilak Bridge-Sirsa Express, Delhi-Roorkee, Chandigarh-Ajmer Garib Rath, Kalindi Express, Bhiwani-Kalka Ekta Express and Jaipur-Chandigarh Intercity Express were also cancelled.
In all more than 600 trains were affected – 124 passenger trains and about 500 freight trains following the jat agitation putting a huge loss to the railways.
Mostly the trains which pass through Haryana from Ferozepur railway division were cancelled. The commuters across the Punjab, were harassed throughout the day
