Intoxicant powder seized from Central Jail inmate
Ferozepur, January 6, 2019: Security arrangements at the Central Jail at Ferozepur have again come under scanner with the recovery of intoxicant powder from a jail inmate during checking.
In a complaint lodged by the Assistant Superintendent of the jail, Rajinder Kumar with the police, he said during checking, white powder 14-15 gms, suspected to be intoxicant material, was recovered from jail inmate identified as Pavitar Singh alias Baboo of Nazushah Mishriwala.
Sukhmandar Singh, SHO City police station informed that a case under the various Sections has been registered and further investigations are on.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier also there had been recoveries of mobiles, SIMs, bidis, intoxicant tablets and this problem is on the rise in all prisons across the state.
Sources inside the Central Jail said in many cases, the relatives of the prisoners give mobile phones to them during their hearing in court.
Similarly, narcotics and other communication devices sneak into jails through various means. Notably, the state government had decided to install jammers in all jails but the project to yet to begin in the absence of funds.
