Inmates tweak Ferozepur Jail security, 6 mobiles found during search operation
Ferozepur, March 7, 2022: Six more mobiles of different brands, were recovered during the search operation carried out at barrack number 1 of block number 2, and barrack number one of block number 3.
Despite claims of tight security inside the jail, inmates manage to smuggle mobile phones and other banned items and contraband easily. The officials are clueless about smuggling in of banned items channel. This could be gauged by the fact that at least 300 mobiles have been seized during the last year and 101 mobiles during the two months of the current year. In such cases, police do not get custody of the accused for questioning, due to which the secret of sneaking in a mobile phone inside the prison remains a mystery for the cops as well as jail officials.
While three mobiles were recovered from the possession of three inmates identified as Jaspal Singh, Baldev Singh and Krishan Singh and the other three as unclaimed from the jail premises.
As usual, a case under Section 52-A of the Prisons Act has been registered on the complaint of Gurbhej Singh Assistant Superintendent and further investigations are on with Gurtej Singh, IO.
