SSP flagged off Organ donation and Uro-Cancer Awareness Walkathon<\/p>\n
Ferozepur, June 28, 2026: An Organ Donation and Uro-Cancer Awareness Walkathon in Ferozepur was organized on Sunday to spread awareness about two critical healthcare challenges \u2014 organ donation and early detection of uro-cancers, by AYKAI Multispeciality Hospital and Ekai Institute of Uro-Oncology & Robotic Cancer Centre, Ludhiana.\u00a0The awareness march started from Gurdwara Sahib Saragarhi, Ferozepur, at 7 am and was flagged off by SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh.<\/p>\n
The event aimed to highlight that one pledge for organ donation can save up to eight lives and encouraged people to come forward for this noble cause.<\/p>\n
The walkathon also focused on the importance of early screening, prevention and timely treatment of uro-cancers, including prostate and kidney cancers. The participants were sensitised about advanced treatment options, including robotic cancer surgery and modern healthcare facilities.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh, Chief Urologist, Uro-Oncologist, Robotic and Transplant Surgeon, said that cancer awareness and organ donation were not merely medical issues but social responsibilities. He stressed that early detection of prostate, kidney and other cancers could save lives, while organ donation could provide a new beginning to patients waiting for a transplant.<\/p>\n
SSP Bhupinder Singh appreciated the initiative and said that awareness about uro-cancer, kidney health, organ donation and a healthy lifestyle was essential for building a stronger society. He added that timely diagnosis could make many uro-cancers treatable and urged citizens to support organ donation, as a brain-dead donor can save eight lives through organ donation and improve many more through tissue donation.<\/p>\n
Dr Karnveer, President, Indian Medical Association (IMA), extended support to the campaign and said that medical advancements such as robotic transplant procedures become more effective when people are aware of organ donation and early cancer symptoms. He called for removing hesitation around organ donation and promoting regular health check-ups.<\/p>\n
As part of the initiative, AYKAI Hospital also organised a free health screening camp for police personnel at Police Lines, Ferozepur, under the guidance of Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh. The camp provided PSA testing for prostate health, blood sugar testing, blood pressure screening and consultation by specialist doctors.<\/p>\n
