Ferozepur<\/span>, December 19, 2024: In its relentless drive against drugs and anti-social activities, Ferozepur<\/span> Police achieved a breakthrough by arresting a drug smuggler and seizing 200 grams of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as “Ice”), Rs. 4.05 lakh<\/span> in drug money, and an active vehicle (PB05AT2228).<\/p>\n Randhir Kumar, SP(D), Fateh<\/span> Singh Brar, DSP, and Mohit<\/span> Dhawan<\/span>, CIA Staff in charge, led the operation. Rohit Kumar of Patel Nagar<\/span>, the accused, was arrested on the Ferozepur-Faridkot<\/span> road near Green Market in Ferozepur<\/span> Cantt<\/span>.<\/p>\n Rohit Kumar, a Purchase Manager at a renowned hotel in Ferozepur<\/span>, has no prior criminal record. Preliminary investigations revealed the drug supply chain involved Rajasthan and Fazilka as transit points, with planned deliveries to Ludhiana and Chandigarh. Police suspect the accused possessed other drugs and was carrying drug sale proceeds.<\/p>\n The confiscated Ice drug is crystalline in appearance and commonly made using harmful, uncontrolled substances. Its long-term side effects and addictive nature make it a growing menace. Forensic testing will confirm the exact composition of the seized drug.<\/p>\n SSP Ferozepur emphasized the police’s ongoing efforts to dismantle drug networks. “We are working on backwards and forward linkages to trace other accomplices. Youths lured by quick money often end up behind bars, devastating their families. Through initiatives like the Yuva<\/span> Sanjh<\/span> programme<\/span>, we counsel and rehabilitate such individuals in collaboration with parents,” he said.<\/p>\n Ferozepur<\/span> Police has previously demonstrated commendable efforts in combating drug and weapon smuggling. Notable recoveries include:1.555 kg of heroin from a juvenile, 1.364 kg of heroin from Arshdeep<\/span> Singh of Mallanwala<\/span>, 505 gm heroin from Karnail<\/span> Singh and Sandeep Singh of Kilche<\/span>, Multiple illegal firearms, including desi<\/span> pistols and live cartridges, from various suspects.<\/p>\n The SSP urged parents to monitor their children’s activities closely and report suspicious behaviour<\/span> to the police.
