Ferozepur, November 14, 2024: In a significant arms recovery, police seized 11 pistols and 7 magazines from a black bag abandoned by two motorcycle-borne suspects during a checkpoint operation in Talwandi Bhai on the Ferozepur-Ludhiana highway. The firearms, identified as .32-bore pistols, were discovered after police signalled the suspects to stop; however, they fled the scene, leaving behind their motorcycle and bag.<\/p>\n

Ferozepur district has seen a troubling rise in the supply of high-quality illegal firearms, surpassing even the licensed arms in circulation. The police\u2019s inability to apprehend the suspects raises further concerns about the spread of unauthorized arms in the region.<\/p>\n

The district has seen an influx of illegal weapons despite restrictions on firearm licenses for civilians. Assistant Sub-Inspector Sudesh Kumar reported that during a routine checkpoint at Talwandi Bhai\u2019s main intersection, police attempted to halt the suspects, who instead fled, abandoning their belongings.
